We haven't been for a few years. Visiting from Sacramento. Delicious as always. This morning my husband, grandson and I all had the biscuit eggs, grits and brisket breakfast. Oh so good. Our son had the chicken fried steak with grits, biscuit and eggs. The chicken fried steak was huge!
Me and my bestie got the pit boss , I have NEVER had ribs so good they did NOT need sauce, it was just a great additive. The Mac and cheese was AH-MAZING!!!! ugh I am in love with them. Our waitress was so nice, loved her too. Was expecting a bit more country to it(just because bbq) but the ambiance was great as well. Highly recommend!
Had a lunch here and the food is good. We were able to choose a table and sit down quickly. I looked over the menu and went for the Pit Boss with Collards and Mac n Cheese. The food was delicious and I appreciated the variety of bbq sauces available. The waitstaff kept our drinks full, however, when it was time to pay, I was brought the check but was never clear on whether someone was supposed to come and take my payment or if I was just supposed to go to the counter and pay. I ended up going to the counter to pay. Gratuity is automatically added.
I went to Podnah's but only had a sampling (meant to get a snack). Nevertheless, I had a rib, brisket taco, cornbread, and collard greens. It was very filling and not to mention, delicious. It was nice to have a wooden bbq looking spot right in the Alberta neighborhood, felt casual with small tables. The waiter was kind and hooked me up with a good variety of what they had to offer.
Simply amazing food, staff and ambiance. We arrived about 7pm that evening to a hopping restaurant with friendly, hospitable staff. After placing our order, we waited just a few minutes got our food to arrive. Large portions impeccably presented to us on white ceramic plates. Taste was clean, fresh and finger-licking good. We ordered pork ribs with two sides of potato salad and coleslaw, two tacos with carnitas and fried fish Baja style and bbq chicken with cornbread. Everything was fabulous!!! Go now...go today...you will not regret it! Enjoy
I checked out Podnah's Pit Barbecue this afternoon because my father wanted barbecue. This little spot is right off Killingsworth in Northeast Portland a couple of blocks down from 15th St. Has a nice open floor plan. The place has a café vibe and the air is filled with a smoky barbecue smell. The menu is interesting because it's a combination of like tacos and barbecue. We ordered the 2 pound pork ribs, quart of greens and a quart of mac & cheese with cornbread on the side. The ribs were pretty delicious. They had a heavy smoke on them and if you're not used to smoked meat, it does appear a little on the red side. They offered a side of barbecue sauce which was pretty delicious. The mac & cheese was different not what I'm used to, but it was OK probably wouldn't order it again. And the greens were not bad that's about all I could say.
